Faces in the Crowd

I wasn’t close to the action, but I was surrounded by the emotion.
Tuesday, January 20, 2009, I wanted to capture the faces of the inauguration. If this was truly a change brought ‘of the people, by the people, and for the people’, I wanted to be among the generations who traveled across distance and time to witness history.
My surprise, so many young people on the Mall. I don’t mean first-time voters; children brought by parents, teen-agers experiencing the moment, and youth group volunteers.
Today, there were no strangers; friendship dawned the frozen air.
